Ingredients
- 1 cup Butter
- 24 oz Semi-sweet baking chocolate
- 2 lbs. 8 oz Shortening
- 2 ½ qt Brown sugar
- 20 Eggs
- 1 cup Cocoa powder
- 2 ¼ lbs. All-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp Baking powder
- 1 tbsp Salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F.
- In the top of a double boiler or in a heatproof bowl over barely simmering water, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chopped with butter, and shortening stirring occasionally until smooth.
- Mix sugar in warm Chocolate and butter dissolving sugar. Mix in vanilla, and cocoa powder.
- Add the eggs one at a time mixing before adding each egg.
- In a bowl, mix flour, corn starch, baking powder, and salt. Slowly fold the flour mixture into the chocolate mixture with spatula, mixing well until blended. Stir in the chocolate chips and pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 35 minutes, until a tester comes out clean. Remove from the oven and cool overnight.
