Walking tacos take all the deliciousness of a taco and combine it with the convenience of being able to eat it on the go! Walking tacos are a tasty way to get in an evening walk and provide some added fun for those with toddlers. The kid-friendly packaged ingredients include pre-cooked taco filling, 100 percent whole wheat soft tortillas, and melting cheese. It’s a new way to love the classic taco — whether you’re at the ballpark, in your backyard or just hanging out with friends.

  Walking tacos are exactly like regular tacos, but you eat them without the hassle of converting them to a portable form. You get all of the ingredients fresh on a bed of lettuce like a fajita, wrap it up and serve it to yourself on-the-go style. All you need to complete your walking taco meal is a side of chips with some salsa and you’ve got yourself one delicious taco meal on paper plates while watching TV or just at the computer! 

Walking Tacos

These Walking Tacos are ideal for a quick dinner on the go, a campfire meal, or a simple game-night supper.
Servings 50 people

Ingredients
  

  • qts. Taco sauce 
  • 10 lbs. Ground beef 
  • 2 tbsp Salt 
  • ½ Ground red pepper 
  • ½ tbsp Ground cumin 
  • ¼ cup Chili powder 
  • All purpose flour 
  • 50 Individual serving size bags of Fritos, Doritos, or choice of chips 
  • 3 lbs. Shredded cheese 
  • ½ gal Sour cream 
  • ½ gal Black beans 
  • lbs. Shredded lettuce 
  • 1 qt Chopped onions 

Instructions
 

  • Prepare 1 recipe Taco Sauce Recipe No. O 007 00 or utilize prepared Taco Sauce. 
  • Cook beef until beef loses its pink color; stir to break apart. Drain fat. 
  • Combine salt, red pepper, cumin, garlic, chili powder, and flour; add to beef. Saute 5 minutes. CCP: Internal temperature must reach 155 F. or higher for 15 seconds. Hold at 140 F. or higher for use in Step 6. 
  • For service setup service station so scouts can assemble their own walking tacos and toppings
