Healthy Backpack Bar Recipe to Carry while Travelling

The backpack bar is a staple in any college student’s dorm room. It’s a place where you can hang out with your friends, watch TV, and play video games—all while being able to keep your snacks handy at all times.

While it may seem like there’s nothing more to making your own backpack bar than throwing some cushions on the floor and buying a keg of beer, there are actually some things you need to consider if you want to make sure that your backpack bar is safe and well-stocked with all of the right items.

These nutritious snack bars are perfect for your hiking bag or lunchbox! These snacks are loaded with dried fruit to offer you a surge of energy no matter what you're up to.
Servings 15 Bars

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Butter  
  • 1 1/2 cups Brown  
  • 1 cup Quick cooking oats  
  • 1 cup Whole wheat flour  
  • 1 cup White flour  
  • 1/2 cup Wheat germ  
  • 4 tbsp Grated orange peel 
  • 4 Eggs — lightly beaten 
  • 2 cups Whole almonds 
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips 
  • 1/2 cup Chopped dates 
  • 1/2 cup Chopped dried apricots 
  • 1/2 cup Shredded coconut 

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350. Cream butter with 1 cup brown sugar. Stir in oats, wheat flour, white flour, wheat germ, and orange peel. 
  • Press mixture into bottom of an ungreased 9 x13-inch baking pan. Combine eggs, almonds, chocolate chips, dates, apricots, 
  • coconut and remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar. Mix gently, but thoroughly. Pour over butter mixture. Spread evenly. Bake 30-35 minutes and cool before cutting into 15 bars.
